Interview edited by Bridget Place (Class of 2030)

To continue our Senior Spotlight series, we are focusing on Avery Lyman, a student at Onekama Consolidated Schools that has attended since Leaps & Bounds.

How is your senior year going so far?

I'd say my senior year is going pretty well so far. It's a lot easier and smoother than the past couple of years.

What are your plans for the future?

My future plan after I graduate high school is to attend cosmetology school.

What steps are you taking to pursue your plans?

Some steps I am taking currently are filling out my FAFSA, researching different cosmetology schools, and learning about their programs. I have also spent my time touring cosmetology schools and practicing my hair coloring skills.

What is the biggest difference you've noticed now that you are a senior?

The biggest difference I've seen in myself is that I’ve started to understand my values and what I truly want out of life. I've been more focused on my future, my goals, and the kind of person I want to become. I've also learned the importance of being responsible, hardworking, respectful, honest, and surrounding myself with people who bring out the best in me.

What is your favorite part about going to school?

Probably seeing Mabel.

What's your favorite class?

My senior seminar class with Mr. Harding.

What is one accomplishment from high school that you are most proud of?

I think something I am most proud of is making it this far. It made me realize how close I am to building that future I've always wanted.

What's one piece of advice you would give to underclassmen?

You grow through what you go through.

Thank you, Avery, for a personality-filled interview. We hope you continue working hard to have one last fun filled year!
