VOLLEYBALL (by Ava Blossingham)

The varsity volleyball team clinched a share of the conference championship after defeating Leland on Thursday, October 9, in three straight sets — 25-9, 25-15, 25-13.

The momentum continued into the Farwell Tournament on Saturday, October 11, where the team excelled in pool play, earning wins over Farwell, Coleman, and Midland Bullock, while tying Manton. In the championship match, the girls battled hard but fell just short in the third set to take second place overall.

CROSS COUNTRY (by Jasmine Lapp)

On October 7th our varsity cross country team raced at Benzie Central for their final Northwest Conference meet of the season. They continue to impress us, finishing third overall. Zakia Wagoner came in a solid 12th place with a time of 20:54.07. Addy Zeller gave another strong performance coming in 5th place with a time of 19:56.82. Callie Sinke led the way claiming another 1st place spot with a time of 18:16.33.

FOOTBALL (by Mr. Zane Harding)

Our football beat writer slash cheerleader, Riley Cogburn, did not make it out to this game, but that didn't stop the Portagers from rolling over Suttons Bay. The score sat 50-0 at halftime, and freshman Bennett Zeller dazzled on both sides of the ball, setting the tone with 141 rushing yards on five carries (28.2 YPC!) for a squad that never looked back en route to a 56-0 road victory.

A road game against Baldwin awaits the Portagers tonight, not Friday, at 6:30 PM; if you can't make the trip over, the game should be streaming on NFHS Network, camera functionality permitting! Should the Portagers win, they would be the second team in school history to start 8-0 (1976).
